SO MANY FEELS

This scene is SOOOOO important and so few people are talking about it.
WHY? Seriously.
If you want any proof that he’s not completely in control the whole movie, here it is.
Loki is just a pawn with big plans who has gotten himself into huge shit and can’t get out of it.
And this scene makes it pretty fucking obvious that they’ve been torturing and manipulating him and are threatening to make it a thousand times worse.

I should probably just post my insane 5k essay I’ve written on how fucked up Loki is in this film. Because I’ve just got a lot of feelings.

thank you.

The look in his eyes says it all. It’s pure fear, which is something he isn’t used to. Whatever the hell they did to him is haunting him, and that’s why he is so desperate to make sure his plan succeeds. Come on, at the start of the film he looks terrible. He looks so sick and like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. He’s desperate.

Sigh. Oh my feels.

YEAH. And this scene pretty much sums up his entire character. He acts like he’s in control, but he’s not, and he’s never been. He has no fucking CLUE what he’s doing. He’s just acting out and pretending he doesn’t care to get back at Thor, which is really ironic because it shows that he DOES care. In fact, that’s all he cares about.

But he’s never had a place, and like Coulson says, he lacks conviction. He doesn’t know what the fuck he’s doing. He’s just trying to pretend like he has it all together - which he clearly doesn’t. So he ends up doing things for others. Becoming what others want of him or what others think of him.

He’s just searching for an identity he’s never had.

#THIS EXACTLY #christ okay let me tell you about some of my feelings that Kim has seen coming from a mile off #Because Tom talks about Loki searching for somewhere to belong and an identity to belong to and christ this is his way of getting it #But again as in Thor he’s gone about it the utterly wrong way #When Loki fell into the void at the end of Thor he gave up his home for gone #there was no part of him that thought he could ever go back that he would ever be allowed back #It didn’t even occur to him that they had mourned his death #that he left any kind of hole in anyone #He destroyed his birthplace and left his home - he has nowhere to go now #And here are people who will offer him exactly what he wants exactly what he NEEDS #he gets a planet a home an identity - everything he lost #all for a price #and he’s desperate #So he becomes a tool in a game much larger than himself #fights a war and pretends it’s his own #And then suddenly Thor shows up and tells him to come home #Loki who never thought anyone mourned for him never thought he would be allowed back past the gates #And Thor just looks at him and says ‘Come home’ #but he can’t it’s too late #He’s made deals and promises and ties with people who have expectations people who back up expectations with threats of violence #violence beyond anything he could find rival for #Even if he gave it up now there is nowehere he could hide from them - noone he could truly bring himself to trust to keep him safe #And he’s so close now he can almost taste it - he’s come this far and it’s almost his #So he goes on fighting other people’s battles trying to display the conviction to the cause he lacks because this is WHO he is now #Who he HAS to be and who he needs to be #to have something to belong to - something to own #All he has is himself and he’s put that on the line to get what he wants #And then there’s Thor who represents everything he lost eveyrthing he could never measure up to and eveything he can now never have #If he is desperate enough to risk himself - risk everything he has - who is Thor to get in his way #nd wow Norse mythology scholars are sobbing into their textbooks right now because maybe Loki is just a little shit but there you have it

#i’m fifty percent certain loki has realized that getting back to asgard means a chance to get his hands on the infinity gauntlet #and then deliver it to thanos #because thanos is not someone you want to fuck with whether you’re immortal or not #and i’m ninety-nine percent certain loki was tortured/stockholmed at his hands #in addition to having fallen through the void and been caught between the realms #at this point he was at his clearest and furthest out from under thanos and the influence of the tesseract #he doesn’t look defeated but he does look tired#i’m hoping to god that thor will find out about thanos and beg/do whatever he needs to in order to convince loki that he’ll help him #because tom’s gagging for a redemption arc and that might just be the way to make it happen #thanos gets the infinity gauntlet but loki flees because he’s now scared shitless after the first bargain went awry #(”the other” did say that thanos would hunt him down if he didn’t follow through)

Anyone notice that Tony has plans to build each Avenger their own floor at Stark Tower? He picks Captain America’s first.

I can’t be the only one that laughed at Loki’s muzzle?
I mean WHY was that even THERE.

To  make him shut the fuck up because they know that he is too smart for them AND to satisfy fetishes.
